Provence is dedicated to the production of beautiful rosés, and has its own research centre dedicated exclusively to rosé research and experimentation. Its main mission is to help improve the quality and understanding of rosé wines. Among its other endeavours the Rosé Research Centre has been studying colour concepts, defining a colour reference system that represents the 6 main colours for rosé wines made in Provence – Gooseberry, Peach, Grapefruit, Cantaloupe, Mango and Mandarin. The colour scale provides a reference that can be used by wine professionals to characterize the colour of rosé wines.
