Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence

Situated in the western section of Provence, the Côteaux d’Aix-en-Provence vineyards extend from the Durance River in the north to the Mediterranean Sea in the south, from the Rhône Valley in the west to the Sainte-Victoire mountain in the east. The appellation’s Mediterranean climate is characterised by intense northerly Mistral winds, which cools the vineyard and provide an average of 2,900 hours of sunshine a year. Rainfall is low at only 550-68mm a year, and occurs mainly in spring and autumn.

The appellation covers a vast array of soils but limestone is dominant, and the wide variety of altitudes and topography also contributes to the remarkable diversity of its terroir.
