Provence Wine Council

Since the 1st January 2004, the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins de Provence (Provence Wine Council) has united the winemakers and négociants of the Côtes de Provence (including the site-specific "terroir" denominations Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire, Côtes de Provence Fréjus and Côtes de Provence La Londe), Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence and Coteaux Varois en Provence appellations, which represent 96% of the total volume of Provence AOPs.

It has three main objectives:

  1. To increase the importance of Provence’s wine industry
  2. To provide the financial and material means needed to further the region’s development
  3. To highlight the special qualities of each appellation and denomination

Rosé now accounts for 30% of French wine consumption, and Provence has asserted its position as a global rosé leader, producing 39% of AOP rosé wines from France and 5.6% of the world’s rosé wines. The dedicated efforts of the CIVP at home and abroad have made Provence rosé one of the best-loved wines in the world.
